Anti-Aging Properties
Isononyl Isononanoate has been utilized in formulations aimed at combating skin aging. A study demonstrated its effectiveness in a microemulsion containing Dendrobium formosum extract, which showed significant anti-aging properties by reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) and inhibiting MMP-1 expression in UVB-irradiated skin cells. For more details, see Preparation and evaluation of Dendrobium formosum extract-loaded microemulsions for anti-aging purpose.
Sunscreen Formulations
In another study, isononyl isononanoate was included in cricket oil-based sunscreen systems, enhancing the formulation's stability and performance. The study highlighted its non-cytotoxic nature and its role in improving the antioxidant activity of the sunscreen. For further information, refer to Cricket Oil-Based Sunscreen Systems: Formulation Design, Ultraviolet Protection Performance, and Preclinical Safety Evaluation.
Nanoemulgel Applications
Isononyl isononanoate was also part of a nanoemulgel formulation that incorporated avocado extracts, demonstrating its ability to stabilize the formulation while providing antioxidant benefits. This formulation showed promise in anti-photoaging applications. More details can be found in Protective effects of avocado peel and seed extracts against UVB-damaged fibroblasts for the development of an anti-photoaging nanoemulgel.
