Facial Thread Vein Removal

Dr Martyn King | Cosmedic Skin Clinic | Staffordshire

Facial thread veins, also known as telangiectasia, are small visible blood vessels that commonly appear on the cheeks, nose, chin, and other areas of the face. While harmless, they can cause unwanted redness and may affect confidence and skin appearance.

At Cosmedic Skin Clinic, we use the advanced 3D Vasculase vascular laser system to safely and effectively target facial thread veins, broken capillaries, and vascular blemishes. The laser selectively heats and coagulates unwanted blood vessels, allowing the body to naturally reabsorb them over time.

The treatment is quick, minimally invasive, and suitable for many common vascular skin concerns.

Summary

  • Procedure time: 15–45 minutes
  • Downtime: Minimal
  • Discomfort: Mild to moderate (brief hot or snapping sensation)
  • Anaesthetic: Not required
  • Onset of results: Most vessels disappear immediately; others fade gradually over several weeks
  • Peak/final results: Often immediate
  • Duration: Long-lasting; new vessels may develop over time due to ageing and lifestyle factors
  • Maintenance: May need additional treatments

Pricing

Prices vary according to the size and number of areas treated.

Typical Treatment Prices

  • Small area (Nose or chin): £75
  • Multiple facial areas: £150

💡 Final pricing is confirmed following consultation and assessment of the vessels being treated.

How it works

The 3D Vasculase system uses a specific wavelength of laser light that is attracted to haemoglobin within blood vessels.

The laser energy is absorbed by the targeted vessel, causing controlled heating and coagulation. The vessel walls collapse and seal, after which the body naturally breaks down and removes the treated vessel through normal healing processes.

During treatment:

  • Protective eyewear/adhesive eye shields are worn
  • Individual vessels are targeted with precise laser pulses
  • Small vessels may disappear immediately
  • Larger vessels may gradually fade over several weeks

The procedure is generally well tolerated and requires little or no recovery time.
